Hi! This is a newsletter about artists I like.
I began acquiring art through some friends that worked in galleries. I started small, working on a limited budget, for stuff I could afford. As time passed, my collection grew, and it was exciting to watch many of the artists I'd collected go on to bigger shows and critical acclaim. My goal with this newsletter is to make a digestible resource for anyone interested in artists that are making great (and still affordable!) work, whom you haven't heard about... yet.
We are a year and a half in to this newsletter and I haven’t stopped to properly congratulate and share my appreciate to the past artists and gallerists that have taken part in this. This newsletter’s sole purpose is to hopefully get more people into buying art now and providing examples of artists/gallerists we think should be supported. at the very worst, hopefully and takes you down your own rabbit hole of discovery. But if you have the means, even if it’s $50, there are ways to still buy unique work from actual people and not a machine or from the West Elm/RH/Pottery Barn/CB2 “art section.”
Anyways, we don’t have time to do a breakdown of every artist/gallerist/other person who has been a guest but some notable things are…
*Past guest KDR305 being the most buzzed about gallery at the fair… HERE.
*Ish Lipman having a show with Harpers Books… HERE.
*Ian Felice having a future show with Half Gallery.
*Hasani Sahlele having a show with Atlanta Contemporary… HERE.
*Claudia Keep showing with Parker Gallery… HERE.
*Jordan Stein of Cushion Works and his production of the Miyoko Ito monograph (out this month)… HERE.
I am looking forward to another great year ahead and hopefully some professional work as well to place great art to great people/companies.
A friend, and future guest, and I drove to Miami to see the NADA Fair and meet some past guests of the Artstuff.
I bought some gifts from the great Dale Zine ,who decked out a mini truck to hold all their offerings, in front of the fair. I bought some bumper stickers and a book on punk in South Florida during the 80/90’s.
Once we got into the fair, I had the chance to meet past guests: Sebastian Gladstone, Danny Bowman of BOZO Mag, La Loma Projects, Dunes, March Gallery, Katia Rosenthal of KDR305, and saw some other artists who had great work such as : Ish Lipman, Sarah D’Ambrosio, and Raymie Iadevaia.
Some of you know that I also sell out of print art/design/photography books over at Goodstuff so I timed this to do a book buy from a collector. We walked away with about 30 books or so but felt inspired after because the collector we spoke with had incredible stories of his past ranging from Warhol hangs at the factory, partying at Max’s Kansas City at the age of 15 and partying with some heavy hitters, and where he found specific pieces from his collection. Great stuff all around. Here are some pics from his apartment which just goes to show, you don’t need some big boxed house to live with great art.
Looks like a great time!
