A Minute With Dylan Thadani
Hi! This is a newsletter about artists I like.
I began acquiring art through some friends who worked in galleries. I started small, working on a limited budget for stuff I could afford. As time passed, my collection grew, and it was exciting to watch many of the artists I'd collected go on to bigger shows and critical acclaim. My goal with this newsletter is to make a digestible resource for anyone interested in artists making excellent (and still affordable!) work whom you haven't heard about... yet.
The only thing keeping me on IG is being able to come across artists like Dylan. Living in a beach town in north Florida has it’s positives and negatives, like anywhere, so I rely heavily on instagram for this newsletter although I am close to stopping. The stuff that comes across my feed is influencers and grifters from every business sector and the same tired ads on repeat.
Aside from Dylan posting really beautiful paintings, he said he was looking for work so I wanted to share that to YOU readers and see if anyone might be looking for a talented individual who is capable of doing a slew of things. Thanks Dylan for your time!
I came across your work from a show you had at a restaurant in Santa Monica? Is that right ? How did that come to be?
DT: Yes, definitely. I had a show at Micheals in Santa Monica in December of 2023. I knew the owner of the restaurant tangentially and after seeing my work they offered me a show. I had recently moved to LA from Yucca Valley and made all of those painting in the three months prior to the exhibition.
I wanted to interview you because you posted about wanting to find some work. Can you share some things you’d be open to doing and we can share with our readers?
DT: Totally, I do lots of painting projects from creative to residential. Interiors, exteriors, murals, backdrops and signs. Im currently assisting set designers and art handling but always looking for more work.
Got an idea? We can usually figure something out…
Did I see (online) you doing a painting session with Sterling Wells of the LA river? How did that go?
DT: Sterling is a friend! Painting with him is awesome. We were painting the lake at Debs Park together. I love going out with other plein air heads it ramps up the creative accountability and makes it easier to stay longer. I Really liked the painting I did that session.
What’s next for ya ?
DT: I’m working on a small show coming up in the next couple months at a project space in Chinatown.
Details forthcoming….
Can you share some pics of your studio? Or your setup?
Best way to reach out about buying a work?
DT: If anyone is interested in coming by the studio and checking out the paintings do not hesitate to reach out via email or instagram!
